Current State of Things.

Hello, all. After some discussion, we've decided to address some questions and issues going on here, as well as provide this as a place for current event planning as some knowledge is getting revealed early, to better allow for planning.

The business first. We have seen legitimate concerns come up regarding the game's premise, structure, and handling, both on anoncomm and not. Firstly, we will try to be more timely with our plotting and announcements. We have been trying to balance the excitement of surprise and the necessity of planning, and we've definitely been leaning too far towards surprise. So we'll be announcing more from now on, as this post is going to do.

We understand some have concerns about the city and the adventure aspect of the game. We're going to be setting up more opportunities for adventures to happen, and in the coming months there will be a heavy focus on it as well. Something that can be done to up exploring and adventuring is the missions and quests. We will attempt to set up some of them in the coming days, but they are to be player-run, and in-between big events, they can be used more than just a way to get characters money. NPCs can always be requested to help, of course. To aid the Digimon-feel, there will be recurring NPCs added to the roster, some antagonistic and some not, in the coming weeks.

At the same time, we want to give the game some sort of stability as to not throw it into complete chaos constantly and to encourage those who are not sociable characters to actually connect. Digimon has a large focus on adventure, but also connections and friendship.

However, we do welcome suggestions, of course, to try and manage this better. We have anon on here if you're uncomfortable. We'd like this to be an accessible place where people can go to first, especially if there are frustrations, so it doesn't blow up on anoncomms. Given recent events, we do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable here, be it in the plotting structure or the ooc community. With communication of the issues, we will strive to make this game better for all players.

On a bit of lighter news, there has been some confusion regarding cresting. Though it is going to be three months usually, as we have important plot events wherein crests would be handy, we're opening it up for those who have been in the game since the first app round. You can and are encouraged to apply for cresting. To reiterate, you simply need to fill in your character, the current date, and the date you were accepted. We will do all the cresting work, but we need your okay beforehand. We will also accept nominations for crests, which are incredibly helpful! For characters who we are on the fence about, it gives us some input. For those we have no clue about, it gives us a starting point. Nominations must be done logged in, as we need to make sure you do not nominate yourself.

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about the event. Here, we will be revealing the rest of the tracks so you can better plan for them.

Wednesday, June 12th - BLOCK FORT - A fairly simple arena with bridges and ramps that connect to other forts. Be careful though, you never know when someone’s going to throw a banana peel down a ramp. (BATTLE COURSE)

Thursday, June 13th - NEO BOWSER CITY - A brightly-lit course in a futuristic city! There are a lot of curves and bends to this course, so hopefully you've got good reflexes. And did we mention it’s raining? Cause it is. Hope you got a parka.

Friday, June 14th - ROSALINA’S ICE WORLD - All the rain from the previous track has frozen over, and now the course is made of ice! Watch out, it’s very slippery. The scenery is extremely nice though!

Saturday, June 15th - CHAIN CHOMP WHEEL - A course on a... roulette wheel? All you can do is drive around! But what is that giant black ball doing-- OH MY GOD IT’S TRYING TO SQUASH YOU FLAT, GET OUT OF THE WAY. (BATTLE COURSE)

Sunday, June 16th - RAINBOW ROAD (Mario Kart 7) - A rainbow apocalypse in the form of a racing track! Hope your seatbelts work! And you don’t mind losing your friendship. All the skills and tricks you picked up during the week will barely give you an edge! If only you had the safety seven...

...But whether or not you'll be able to race on the last one depends on how the following goes.

On Saturday, a Sakuyamon Miko Mode will arrive in the city, very cross at the Chosen, claiming villages have been attacked by mysterious swarms of mindless Digimon and yet they remain here, in the city. With her will be two subordinates, Petermon and Tinkermon, who will enter in the race under this ultimatum: If the Chosen win, then the last race will proceed. If Petermon and Tinkermon win, Sakuyamon Miko Mode will, with other followers, keep them from their carts, attacking if they continue to attempt.

Whatever the outcome, Sakuyamon Miko Mode will leave with Petermon and Tinkermon at the end of the Mario Kart event, going to defend other villages with the mindset that she will be checking in on the Chosen periodically. On the 19th, she will contact the city, however, hijacking all D-Terminals to tell them that Petermon and Tinkermon are approaching the city with a large amount of Rookies and some In-Training they have brainwashed, along with a few sweet-talked Armor Digimon. She'd prefer that her followers not be killed, but subdued, until their "babysitter" CaptainHookmon arrives to pick them up, as she is too far away to get back in time.

So, tomorrow, we will have sign-ups for who will be taking what actions there, but this is an initial heads-up. If Tinkermon and Petermon lose the race, they will return with a larger group. If they win, a smaller one.

This post can be used for discussion as well! Be it event, what you'd like to see, or anything you would like us to address. We hope to be as approachable of a mod team as possible, and from this point forward we will strive to make the game more organized, proactive, and accessible to planning in advance.

My biggest gripe with the game is that there doesn't seem to be a great deal of direction or mod involvement. I'd assumed, for example, that there would be logs set up for the missions and quests last month; if they're all supposed to be player-run rather than mod-run, that's fine, but (unless I overlooked it) I didn't see any mention of this on the signup post, and it would have been helpful to have that kind of information going in, so that maybe people could coordinate putting logs together as the dates for the events came around. Or, if nothing else, to give players enough information regarding what was going to go down during the missions so that they could have some idea of the impact it would have on their character; for example, I signed Jamie up for a mission to investigate the Dark Ocean area - again, under the impression that there would be a log for the volunteers to participate in - but I have no idea what the mission entailed or what might have happened during it, and therefore no idea how Jamie might have reacted to it.

The only mission for which it was explicitly stated that somebody would be posting something was the Ryou training event, the log for which never materialized.

I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, IC or OOC, for the scavenger hunt, and there wasn't a lot of time to try to plan for it. I get now that this is supposed to be a sort of hands-off game, and I'm not asking for the mods to spoon-feed us everything every step of the way, but I think the game could benefit from a little more mod guidance.

Those are my observations, anyway. I would really like to see this game succeed, because it's got a great premise, and I do appreciate that the mods have opened up discussion like this. I hope we can all figure out a way of resolving the game's issues so that folks can keep having fun here.

Thanks for commenting, we really appreciate you telling us your grievances here.

Yeah, we're aware of how disorganized the missions and quests are. We're in the process of discussing a new way to do them, honestly, to make it so it's more manageable for us to run them, if that's what the players would like. Giving more information is also a really good suggestion, thank you.

As for mod guidance in general, we're working on that as well. Part of the issue is finding the right balance, and we're in the process of that, as May was the first time the new mod team worked together in its entirety and was incredibly busy.
