Why not an AU?

Well, I may as well break this page in since I'm here. My name is Jess, and I'm bringing in one (1) Jin Uzuki from the sadly under appreciated game series Xenosaga. Only there's a bit of a twist. You see, he's from an AU where almost everyone is on the opposite side from canon, meaning he's one of the villains, the leader of U-TIC to be precise. That's right people, you get to deal with a villain from day one! But he's not a typical villain, he's more along the lines of a well intentioned extremist who will do anything for his goals...even if it means destroying a planet and the 1.5 billion innocents who live there.

But don't let that put you off from talking to him! For all his ruthlessness, he's actually a very pleasant man who enjoys quiet company and a nice book, despite a bit of a teasing sense of humor. He also happens to be a bit of a manipulative meddler, but his intentions are always benevolent.

Oh, yeah, and he's a master swordsman from the far future and a galaxy far far away, a former spy and a space samurai. He might also be likely to try to recruit followers for a neo-U-TIC, but that's in the future, right?

He'll be living in room F1 005 along with his partner, Veemon. As for me, you can find me at Firebenderjess on both AIM and Plurk.

Oh my god. Best. Roommate. Assignment. Ever. Two high ranking soldiers from video games set in space who are around the same age. While I haven't played Xenosaga, I can already tell this is going to be some great CR!

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw it. And they're even the exact same rank, his full title is Commander Jin Uzuki.

I'm expecting her to either be one of his best friends or the biggest annoyance, depending on how much she learns about him doing things like sacrificing planets and allowing human experimentation.

Whoever ends up as their third roommate better get used to military personnel very, very quickly, I'll say that much.

He could probably argue for the sacrificing planets, Shep understands tough choices, buuuut she'd probably protest the human experimentation. I can't wait to see where it goes! c:

In his mind, the risk to the planet was necessary because he believed that what he was trying to do would bring his organization a step closer to benefiting the entire universe. He's good at justifying things to himself.

He's good with animals and doesn't try to hurt people unless he has a reason, so they should be fine there. But she might not want to listen to his war stories, since he fought in the most horrific battle in his world's history, which left everyone involved deeply traumatized.

Pretty much. The ends justify the means when the ends are for the good of humanity as a whole, right? Or so he thinks. Just as planned.

At least it's arguable instead of just... crazy! the self-enabling begins immediately every time i join a game whoops

Oh good, then she shouldn't lose her lunch when he describes the berserked artificial humans, insane child soldiers and all manner of other horrifying things that went on during that battle. Just don't mind if it makes him a bit melancholy, he lost his parents during that and his best friend 'betrayed' him.

Yeah, he's got his motives and is convinced they're good ones. And he isn't entirely wrong to think something needs to change, either, he just...needs to re-think his methods.

Hello! I'm Ashley (also known as Ari), nice to meet you! I sadly only have Xenosaga experience through RP. ...It's funny, in the AU we were playing, Jin turned out to be a "villain" there too (more morally ambiguous-- it's complicated).

Hah, Jin's pretty morally dubious even in canon anyway. The game runs on Gray and Gray Morality. I might want to hear details about that AU, though.

Haaaa, that would be. Intensely difficult, but I can see if I could try to explain things out eventually, we were playing a pretty wide world with a lot of canons for just about two and a half years. ^^; Gotta love Gray and Gray Morality, though, mmm.

Nice to meet you, Jess! I'm Kisa and I'm a lurker. Xenosaga is actually a canon I knew decently, so it was interesting seeing a Jin AU! He seems like he'll be fun to have around and... one day these two must meet! :]

Ooooh, someone who actually knows Xenosaga! I happen to play Margulis from this same AU, but I found out playing this version of Jin was too much fun so here he is XD

And yes, he and Hermione definitely need to meet. They can geek out over books together.

I think I'll always play Margulis, but Jin is fun too. Just a shame that I'm the only Margulis mun on DW. It'd be horribleinteresting for this Jin to meet canon!Margulis.

Ahh, Jin knows that feeling. Margulis used to appreciate a good book every now and then, but Jin doesn't speak of him anymore, let alone to him unless they're fighting. Albedo knew how to appreciate literature, but...yeah, no, they weren't friends. Everyone else preferred more digital media :(
